Following defeats to Cameroon and Ghana on Thursday, all five  African teams at the ongoing FIFA world cup in Qatar are still in search of a win.
As we await the first African side to get the first three points, attention will now be shifted to the second round of group games which begins Friday, November 25th.
It is sad that after the first round of group games concluded on Thursday night, only Tunisia and Morocco could salvage a point each, after both teams played out a goalless draw against Denmark and Croatia, as Senegal, Cameroon, and Ghana all failed to record a point.
Let us take a look at their next matches and chances of progressing from the group stage.
After losing to the Netherlands 2-0 in their opening group encounter, Senegal will face a difficult task in group A  against the host nation Qatar inside the 44.000 Capacity Al  Thumama Stadium.
No doubt the host nation will try to avoid the embarrassment of being eliminated from the tournament after two matches and will throw in everything they have to get a win that will see them remain in the competition and will surely get the backing of their teeming fans and a win for Qatar will send the African champions Senegal out of the tournament, but the west Africans have what it takes to wrestle the host and pick all three points to remain in Qatar.
Senegal need to be more purposeful, create and take their chances against the host, Â who football pundits believe cannot go past Senegal on Friday.
Elsewhere The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia will on Saturday, November 26th  try to raise their game when they face less fancied Australia when group D’s second round of matches get underway,  knowing that a win will boost their confidence going into their final Group game against cup holders France, as a draw against the Socceroos will put them in a difficult situation, but with a good performance recorded against Denmark in their first game, the north African side should be able to take Australians to the cleaners.
Morocco also need to up their game against Group F favorites Belgium, Â on Sunday, November 27th. They have to better their performance against Croatia and take the battle to the Roberto Martinez side, however, both teams need a win to be sure of qualification to the next round, but given the quality display by Canada against Belgium, it will be difficult for the Atlas Lions to progress beyond the group phase if they don’t get a respectable result against Belgium.
Monday, November 28th will be a day of decision for Cameroon and Ghana, as they may be eliminated from the tournament if they fail to record a win in their second round of group games.
Former Africa champions indomitable lions  Cameroon will need an outright win against Serbia to boost their confidence ahead of the final group game against Five times champions of the world cup Brazil, a loss to the  European side means the party will be over for Cameroon the first African side to reach the Quarterfinal stage of the FIFA world cup, a feat they achieved in 1990 when Italy hosted the global soccer showpiece.
Meanwhile, Ghana also need to go for a win against a determined South Korea who held their own against an experienced South American, Uruguay in their second group game if they hope to remain in Qatar before taking on their last group opponent Uruguay.
Ghana need to be more clinical in front of the goal, disciplined and tactical while the technical bench should learn from the mistakes made against Portugal.
All hope is not lost yet for the five Africa Nations in Qatar, but a lot needs to be done by the managers and players if they must go far in the tournament.
