1′ Nunez gets the game underway…
10 Ronaldo squares it into the middle for Fernandes, and he looks to thread it through the gap for Silva to run onto. Godin reads the danger well though and slides in with a vital challenge to block it.
20′ Portugal push forward on another attack and it’s swept out to Mendes on the left again. His cross is cleared, as is Cancelo’s on the far side, but it bounces out to Neves. He drills it down the middle, but Godin blocks it.
30 It’s better from Uruguay here as they patiently work it upfield. Olivera is starting to find pockets of space down the left, but he can’t pick out a team-mate with his cross.
40′ Valverde was made to wait to take the free-kick as the referee stops the pushing in the box. He eventually curls it in from the right, but it’s too high for everyone.
45′ + 3′ HALF-TIME: PORTUGAL 0-0 URUGUAY.
46‘ Portugal get us back underway for the second half!
54′ RONALDO SCORES! Portugal open the scoring with their first shot on target in the game! Fernandes looks to run down the left but cuts back inside and curls a great cross onto the edge of the six-yard box. Ronaldo times his run perfectly and leaps to get a deft touch on it to help it past Rochet. 1-0 Portugal!
68‘ Bruno Fernandez awarded the goal.
73 Substitution! Suarez Replaces Edinson Roberto Cavani
90′ + 3′ FERNANDES SCORES! He wasn’t originally stood over the spot-kick, but he coolly steps up to take it. It’s a slow run-up and he stutters it just in front of the ball before doing his trademark hop and calmly slotting the ball down the left of the goal, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0 Portugal!
90′ + 11′ FULL-TIME: PORTUGAL 2-0 URUGUAY
