C’River Deputy Gov. Encourages Student Who Set To Create World Record With Guinness

Educational encouragement seem to have taken another dimension as the Cross River State deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey provided support for Mr. Benedict Ori’s aspiration for readathon.

With the increase number of students of the University of Calabar daring to break barrier with the Guinness World Record Mr. Ori has secured approval for readathon.

Mr. Ori a 2nd year English & Literary Studies student of the University of Calabar, from Ojirim, Mbube, Ogoja LGA, also had Hon Odey’s promise for logistic support.

Additionally, Mr. Ori disclosed that his goal to create a new record of 150 hours nonstop reading has been approved by the Guinness World Record (GWR).

“The GWR approved my readathon and sent me stipulations and protocols to observed in order to achieve success in the attempt,” he said.

Accordingly, “I will be reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelation from 12th – 17th February, 2024.

Therefore, “I am physically, emotionally and mentally prepared for the readathon.”

Mr. Ori who visited the deputy Governor in Calabar with the Exco of the National Association of Ogoja Students World Wide expressed joy for warmth reception.

Thrilled by the courtesy, Ori also prayed God to continue to make Odey a source of light and inspiration to students.

Meanwhile, Hon.Odey has promised to be physically present on the last day of the readathon.

For instance, In October 2023, Truth Live News reported Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs’ Dr. Helen Isamoh-Egodo visit to Mr Daniel Ehis Aiguohkian to celebrate with him.

Mr. Aiguohkian broke Guinness World Record in writeathon with a target to write for 188 hours.

As at the time, Aiguohkian who was a 300 level student of the department of philosophy University of Calabar is an indigene of Edo state south south Nigeria.

Nevertheless, the current holder of the title for longest reading aloud, Rysbai Isakov from Turkey, ended at 124 hours and held the title since September 2022.
