The Research Development Center is set to hold a forum to review laws related to Muslim social relations in its operational states, aiming to strengthen the rights of women and children.

Dr. Taofik Abubakar, leading the center’s delegation, revealed this during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, in Zaria.

Dr. Abubakar emphasized that the center has sponsored Islamic scholars to Al-Azhar University in Egypt to deepen their understanding of Islam’s stance on women’s rights and protection against abuse.

He clarified that Islam prohibits domestic violence, citing Prophet Muhammad’s teachings.

The center plans to engage with Kano and Kaduna state leaders to review and strengthen Muslim social laws, ensuring their enforcement.

Emir Bamalli urged authorities to revisit abandoned social laws in Kano to improve women’s rights in Northern Nigeria, highlighting the weakness of women’s legal protections and calling for urgent action to formalize these laws nationwide.
