In a proverbial “ the hunter becomes the hunted “ fashion, residents of Birnin Magaji in Zamfara State took action against terrorists in response to the recent abduction of farmers.
The community members intercepted the wives of the terrorists, including a pregnant woman, as they were returning to their hideouts.
This retaliatory act was carried out by concerned youths due to the repeated terrorist attacks on their community. The bandits had previously invaded a farm, threatened the farmers, and abducted them.
The community’s youth leader expressed their fear of abduction for ransom, both in their homes and while working on the farm. Currently, it remains uncertain who will demand ransom first, whether it be the bandits or the villagers.
