The Kaduna State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. John Hayab, in a recent interview, urged Nigerians to respect the nation’s judicial system and work together to progress the country.
This call came in the wake of the ruling by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja on September 6.
Truthlive news recall that in an unanimous ruling, the five-member judicial panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.
Hayab said, “We should, as Nigerians, respect the judicial system for the interest of peace and harmonious coexistence of the country.
“Nigerians must not allow themselves to be used to divide the country, based on political differences, but unite and work with the person the court rules in his favour to lead the affairs of the land for development to thrive in Nigeria.”
The cleric further cautioned Nigerians against engaging in activities that would cause anarchy and impede their country’s development.
Additionally, he asked lawmakers as well as ordinary Nigerians to accept the tribunal’s decision and let the rule of law play out as it should, even if their hopes were not met.
“Politicians come and go but the country remains. Therefore, we must think inward and not allow some selfish individuals to put the country into confusion that could lead to chaos and result in the loss of lives and property, and which could set the country backwards, instead of consolidating Nigeria’s progress.”
