Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has sparked a debate by ranking Alex Ferguson above Pep Guardiola as the greatest coach.
In an interview with ESPN Brasil, Rooney praised Ferguson’s remarkable achievements at Aberdeen before his successful tenure at Manchester United.
“While people often focus on Ferguson’s accomplishments at Manchester United, his work at Aberdeen was truly incredible.
“It’s worth asking if Guardiola could have achieved similar success at a smaller club like Aberdeen.
“For me, Ferguson’s overall impact on the game is unmatched, even if Guardiola has revolutionized modern football,” Rooney said.
