As the crisis rocking the Edo state sports commission grows worse over the illicit activities of the sister Inlaw of the Deputy Governor of the state who was appointed the Permanent Secretary of the commission, Sabina Chikere, more damning details of her alleged corruption in the commission have been revealed.
Recall that Truth Live News had published an investigative report on her role in bringing the state Football Association into disrepute. Still, this more damaging allegation bothers on her activities around financial handling and mistreatment of staffers of the state’s sporting family.
Earlier, thousands of protesters had marched through the streets of Benin asking for the sacking of the Permanent Secretary of the commission Mrs Sebina Chikere l, carrying placards with different inscriptions like “Sabina Must Go”, “Tandor Must Go, this is not Lagos”, etc
Some allegations against the woman who many believed was not qualified for the position in the first place include extortion, direct abuse of staffers, harassment and intimidation of athletes.
One of the senior officials at the Sports Commission who spoke to Truth Live News in Benin City confirmed that Sebina had bitten more than she could chew, looking at the weighty allegations against her and she must go this time.
He said: “This has been going on since last year. But the time for her removal is now. She must go”
“She deleted all the board members from the Sports Commission platform she alone and a couple of others have been running the commission even when the commission has a chairman, but Sabina uses her influence and relationship with the deputy governor to treat everyone with disdain, contempt and arrogance “.
She refused to provide information to the Board about how monies were spent, she is completely unacceptable to anyone.
She illegally removed 100k from the salaries of the commissioners for one Bendel insurance t-shirt without prior discussion or approval.
“She has run the sports commission single-handedly.”
