Security: Deputy Gov. Omobayo Lauds Obaseki Over Approval of Army Base in Akoko Edo 

 

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Engr Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, has lauded the Nigerian Army for prompt approval to the Edo state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki request to site a forwarding operations Base, FOB in Akoko Edo LGA of Edo north district.

The Deputy Governor makes the commendations while making a remarks at the official commissioning of the newly-built Nigerian Army Forwarding Operations Base at Ehor in Uhunwode Local Government Area of the State, executed by the Edo state government.

Governor Obaseki on Thursday, commissioned and handed over the Forward Operating Base, in Ehor, Uhunmwode Local Government Area (LGA) of the State to the Military, as part of efforts to beef up security across the State.

The deputy governor commended the foresight of the State Governor, Mr Obaseki, for the setting up FOBs in strategic locations in the state to arrest the rising insecurity.

The building of the base according to the deputy governor in Akoko-Edo will strengthen the State’s security architecture in protecting lives and property.

Akoko-Edo he noted occupies a very strategic location by reason of being a border area with its neighbouring States of Ondo and Kogi.

He said Edo State as the Heartbeat of Nigeria provides the gateway to the West, East and Northern parts of the country, and as such, siting an Army base in Akoko-Edo would go a long way in checkmating crime and criminality, especially from the Kogi axis of the Benin-Lokoja express way.

The Deputy Governor commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for according priority to the security and safety of the citizens.

He added: ” the primary responsibility of any responsible government is to protect lives and property of the citizens. This is the reason Mr Governor has always worked hard to ensure every nook and cranny of the state is adequately secured”.
