Senior International Friendly: Nigeria to Face Argentina in China

Nigeria and Argentina are set to face off in a senior international friendly match at the Olympics Sports Centre stadium in Hangzhou, China, on a yet-to-be-announced date in March.

Argentine Football Federation disclosed this on its website in the early hours of Tuesday, adding that the Albiceleste will face another African side, Ivory Coast, at the Workers’ Stadium in Beijing days later.

“The Argentine National Team already knows the rivals it will face in the friendly tour of China, to be played from March 18 to 26,” the statement reads.

“Lionel Scaloni’s team will face Nigeria at the Olympics Sports Center stadium in Hangzhou.

“The second match will be against the Ivory Coast at the Workers’ Stadium in Beijing.

“The date of both meetings will be announced in the next few hours.”

Nigeria have only defeated Argentina twice in eight matches, with the World Cup champions recording six wins, with five coming at FIFA world cup competitions.

The Super Eagles victories were in friendly matches, first was a 4-1 win in Abuja in 2011 and another 4-2 win in Krasnodar, Russia in 2017, while the Argentina won the last meeting 2-1 at the 2018 World Cup in Russia
