Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, a former Governor of Kano State and a prominent Northern leader with a strong ideological base and widespread followership, has outlined key conditions for backing President Bola Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills currently under review in the National Assembly.
Truth Live News gathered that, while speaking at a public event in Abuja, Shekarau, who now serves as the Chairman of the League of Northern Democrats (LND), highlighted critical socio-cultural and governance issues raised by a technical committee tasked with evaluating the bills. He stressed that the proposed reforms must address these concerns to avoid potentially severe consequences.
“As a statesman and leader deeply rooted in the values of justice and equity, I see these tax reforms as an opportunity to stabilize Nigeria’s economy while resolving constitutional and governance challenges,” Shekarau stated.
He called for comprehensive amendments to the bills, emphasizing inclusivity, national cohesion, and equitable resource distribution.
