Sit-At-Home: One Feared Dead As Traders Protest Sealing Of Shops In Enugu

Tragedy struck in Enugu state as one unidentified person was confirmed dead on Wednesday during a protest by traders of Ogbete Main Market over the sealing of their shops by the Enugu State government.

Truthlive news reported that the State Government had on Monday sealed many businesses, including shops at the Ogbete Main Market for not opening on Monday.

The state government had earlier issued a warning that it would close down the businesses of anyone who chose to stay at home on Monday.

In protest, traders whose business premises were sealed came out in protest on Wednesday to voice their discontent with the situation.

Although the demonstration began peacefully, certain video clips making the rounds on social media that Truthlive news saw revealed that the demonstration turned violent at some point along the state’s Ogui Road axis.

At the time of writing this report, it is not clear who shot at the unidentified person and the State Police Command is yet to issue a statement on the incident.
