The Cross River State Governor, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu, has described the Sky Run Company as a serious business conglomerate whose mandate is totally in line with the ‘People First’ mantra of his administration.
He said “I want to applaud you and assure you that we are solidly behind you”. Governor Otu stated this when the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company, George Woo, visited him.
The Chief Press Secretary Nsa Gill, on an E-sign report on social media post on Wednesday said the Governor appreciated the company for inducting twenty (20) Cross Riverians through its partnership with the State Government’s ‘Skill-In-The-Hands’ initiative.
He said their partnership aims at training them in various technical areas and providing them with automatic employment in the electronics manufacturing company.
“Your corporate social responsibility has shown the true quality and character of Sky Run Company,” Otu said, the Chinese household electronics manufacturing firm, operating in the Calabar Free Trade Zone, has Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
In addition, he said the Sky Run Company in Cross River State, has impacted many youths through training, technology and knowledge transfer initiatives.
He numerated some of the company’s CSR to include 1,000 Nigerians employed, with a bulk of them being Cross Riverians, playing key roles in Sky Run’s success story in Cross River and Nigeria at large.
According to him, this is a sign that the Chinese firm is sensitive to federal character.
Also, the Governor assured the Sky Run delegation of his administration’s commitment to building a virile sub-national economy that will pave the way for private sector investments.
Moreover, he has charged Cross Riverians in the workforce of Sky Run Company to distinguish themselves in their respective places of assignment in order to boost the confidence of their employer and be of good image for the state.
Meanwhile, Mr. George Woo, the Chairman of Sky Run Company said for over the past 20 years, the company has enjoyed the Cross River State government’s support.
Truth Live News gathered that Mr Woo, thanked Sen. Otu for creating an enabling investment-friendly climate in the state.
“The present administration’s ‘People First’ agenda, has consummated a long-term technical collaboration with the the Sky Run Company,” Woo said this aims to drive and implement the ‘Skill-In-The-Hands’ initiative.
He explained that the ‘Skill-In-The-Hands’ initiative aimed at empowering youths in the state will reposition youths as valuable assets to society.
Furthermore, he intimated the Governor that 20 youths have successfully graduated from the program and another 20 have been inducted for the second batch.
Additionally, the Chinese national said that the areas of collaboration include employment generation and craftsmanship and solicited Government’s continuous support.
