The Governor of Akwa Ibom state Pastor Umo Eno has said that his government will treat everyone equally and without segregation.
Pastor Eno made the promise at the holy matrimony between former Miss Aniekeme Godwin Eyo and Mr Dwight Olugu Uma, son of a prominent Uyo-based Gospel Evangelist, Reverend Uma Ukpai, at Victory Cathedral of Uma Ukpai Association Inc., Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo.
He said by the grace of God, his administration is determined to move forward, develop the economy and the people.
While pouring an encomium on the celebrant, Governor Eno said they were there to celebrate with Reverend Uma Ukpai, for always celebrating others. He thanked him for making the wedding happen in Uyo, where they could have all the guests.
“You have made it easier for us, boosting our tourism and economy. I like to thank you for sticking to the vision that God gave you despite all the confusion that we had.”
“Standing on this exalted pulpit, I promise that I will treat everyone without any form of segregation to ensure that we move forward, develop our economy and develop our people, and by the grace of God, we are determined to do just that,” he said.
“Wherever I go, I try to move the church forward and open doors for other ministers to get into politics. So, I am aware of the responsibility that God has put on my shoulders, and I promise that as a product of grace, I will not fail you.”
He further noted that through the framework of the ARISE Agenda, economic development, job creation, food security, educational and infrastructural development will be achieved.
“We are here to serve the Akwa Ibom people. We are here to unite Akwa Ibom and unite this State because we have only one state we can call our own. I stand as a symbol of that unity, I stand, as a man that God has sent with a ministry of reconciliation,” Governor said.
“Through the ARISE Agenda of this government, we will ensure that Akwa Ibom people have jobs, and we have food, food security, develop our infrastructure and support our educational system,” he continued.
“I know that it is only the grace of God that brought me here, and I pledge to remain in that grace. My greatest prayer for the church is for God to enable us to come out of this exercise the way we went in. I went in as a pastor and want to come out as a pastor.”
“Daddy, on behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom, we thank you,” he said.
“I would like to say publicly, you were one of those that said to me, you knew I would be the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and at that time, His Excellency (the former Governor) had not yet spoken to me. So I told you I don’t know, and you said, God has spoken; I remember upstairs.
“So I would like to thank you for speaking clarity to God’s vision. I want to thank you for standing by that vision despite all our confusion,” he concluded.
