In a significant step towards fortifying regional cooperation, the Government House played host today to a high-profile gathering of eminent leaders.

The event, hosted by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu state,

welcomed distinguished colleagues from the South Eastern States: Gov. Alex Otti of Abia State, Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra State, Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, and Sen. Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State and Chairperson of the South East Governors’ Forum.

The discussions centered around forging a united front for enhanced socio-economic development and heightened security within the region. One of the key outcomes of this assembly is the unanimous decision to convene a summit, the details of which will be revealed in the near future.

A focal point of deliberation was the pressing issue of security. The gathered leaders collectively resolved to combat this challenge through both individual state initiatives and a collaborative approach, in partnership with the Federal Government.

A noteworthy declaration emerged from the summit, addressing the perpetrators and sponsors of insecurity within the South East. It was emphatically stated that these individuals are to be recognized as criminals without legitimate claims to agitation. The leaders pledged to address this concern within the framework of established legal norms.

The Governors reiterated the commitment of the South Eastern States to sustain and strengthen the current era of tranquility and security that the region is experiencing. The summit marks a pivotal juncture in fostering a cohesive strategy for progress and prosperity.
