Delta state government has shut down a school in Boji Boji Owa in Ika North East Local Government Area of the State after a death of a student from a strange ailment and four others who inflicted were hospitalized.
Commissioner for Health in the state Mordi Ononye in a statement assured members of the public not to panic as measures are already in place to contain the spread of the ailment with samples from the patients sent to the National Reference Laboratory Abuja for detailed analysis.
The National Centre For Disease Control(NCDC) has also been notified.
The Commissioner for Health said that the five cases of the strange disease manifest as fits/convulsions in conscious persons.
The Ministry of Health has urged that any case of this nature should be reported immediately to the nearest government-owned hospital.
