AWKA: Toba Owojaiye reporting
The Supreme Court in Abuja has affirmed Sly Ezeokenwa as the legitimate National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and fined Edozie Njoku ₦20 million for filing a frivolous suit challenging his leadership.
This judgment reaffirms earlier decisions, including a Federal High Court ruling at FCT High Court, Bwari, which stated that no valid court order supports Njoku’s claim to the chairmanship.
Truth Live News gathered that INEC had previously listed Njoku’s faction as APGA’s leaders, despite the absence of a court directive.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court criticized this action and clarified that the Supreme Court had already ruled in favor of Victor Oye’s leadership until his tenure ended, and Ezeokenwa’s election in May 2023 was legitimate.
Omotosho instructed INEC to reinstate Sly Ezeokenwa Esq. and his executive team.
The judge held that the Supreme Court had settled the matter in the case between Njoku and Oye on who the valid national chairman of the party was in suit number: SC/CV/687/2021 dated March 24, 2023.
This resolution highlights the judiciary’s efforts to restore order within APGA and emphasizes the need for INEC to adhere strictly to lawful processes when recognizing party leadership.
