The Supreme Court on Tuesday, January 16, reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last governorship election in Nasarawa State, David Ombugadu.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, leading a five-member panel, declared that the judgment is reserved after the final submissions from the parties’ lawyers.
The appeal seeks to overturn the November 23, 2023, judgment of the Court of Appeal, which reversed the earlier ruling of the election tribunal, leading to the removal of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Court of Appeal contended that legally inadmissible evidence influenced the tribunal’s decision to annul Sule’s election and declare Ombugadu the winner.
