Suspected Separatists Attack Oil Workers, Military Over Oil Exploration In Bakassi

As at the time of filling this report, a group suspected to be Biafra Nation’s League (BNL) separatist has been reported to have carried out an attacked on oil workers in Bakassi Peninsula.

The group which is said to have dwelled in a gun battle with Cameroonian military unit, known as the Rapid d’intervention Battalion (BIR)Idabato subdivision was reported also to have chased at least five workers out of the area.

Truth Live News gathered that the incident occurred in the evening of Tuesday at about 7:p.m where the suspected Biafran asked Cameroon to withdraw its forces from Bakassi Peninsula, Cross River State, south south Nigeria.

The alleged BNL group, in a press interview in Cross River State, their Leader Princewill Chimezie Richard said he has ordered Nigeria and Cameroon to stop oil exploration if Nnamdi Kanu is not released.

Recall that Nnamdi Kanu was arrested for allegedly leading the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), against the Nigerian Government.

Richard, said he had earlier warned them to end the imposition of tax on the people of the region.

Eyewitness account said the oil workers who were mostly foreigners boarded a speed boat to explore oil in the area.

The anonymous source said the militants, suspected to be working with the BNL were “advancing towards the oil workers before the military opened fire.”

But according to him, “there was no casualty recorded.”
