Alhaji Iliya Jibu, Chairman of Ibi Local Government Council in Taraba State, has reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing security and resolving the ongoing boundary dispute between Sarkin Kudu and Ibi Chiefdom.
Speaking to journalists in Jalingo, Jibu emphasized the importance of a secure environment for sustainable development.
He highlighted the council’s efforts to boost local revenue, including a proposed increase in levies on agricultural produce like maize, to fund critical projects such as providing potable drinking water, feeder roads, and township roads.
Regarding the boundary dispute, Jibu assured residents that a resolution is imminent, citing a committee set up by former Governor Darius Ishaku that directed maintaining the status quo.
He warned that any chiefdom defying government directives would face consequences.
Incumbent Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has intervened, mandating Jibu to resolve the issue.
Upon returning to Ibi, Jibu plans to meet with all chiefs to communicate the governor’s directive and ensure all disputes are addressed.
