Terrorists attacked a military checkpoint on Thursday night, near Zuma rock in Niger State.
Military men often mount a checkpoint close to the Zuma rock, towards the Mandala town junction along the popular Abuja-Kaduna express.
It was reported that the insurgents arrived the road around 7pm and opened fire on the Army troops, killing some of them
The attackers continued to shoot before heading towards the Kaduna axis of the expressway and took control of the area for about 30minutes without a repel attack from security personnel.
However, after they left, soldiers from Zuma Barracks and policemen were deployed to the scene.
At least three personnel were killed in the ambush, while a number of others were wounded.
Residents in the area confirmed that there was a total gridlock and chaos in the area as many fled for safety.
This incident is happening just a few days after gunmmen attacked the Presidential Guards Brigade along the Kubwa-Bwari road in Abuja and killed about 8 soldiers leaving others with bullet wounds.
