President Bola Tinubu has awarded prestigious national honours to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Chief Justice of Nigeria Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.
The announcement came during President Tinubu’s nationwide address on Tuesday, marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
Other honorees include Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu.
Tinubu confirmed that Akpabio and Kekere-Ekun have been conferred with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), while Jibrin and Abbas received the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) titles. Kalu was awarded Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).
The president also mentioned that the full list of honorees for 2024 would soon be released by the federal government.
“The Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation have been conferred with the honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
“The Deputy Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives have been awarded Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), while the Deputy Speaker has received the honour of Commander of the Order of Niger (CON),” Tinubu stated.
