President Bola Tinubu has said that in a little over two months, the nation has saved over N1 trillion due to the removal of fuel subsidy.

He disclosed this after the hue and cry of Nigerians who have decried the hardship which his government has brought upon them following the removal of fuel subsidy without palliatives to cushion its effect on them.

Truth Live News reports that President Tinubu was sworn in on May 29 and upon his inaugural speech, said, fuel subsidy is gone.

He said that the money saved by his government would have been squandered on the unproductive fuel subsidy which only benefitted smugglers and fraudsters.

President Tinubu added that now, the money will be used more directly and more beneficially for Nigerians .

Tinubu admonished Nigerians to persevere with him though the period may be hard on everyone but they should look beyond the present and temporary pains and aim at the larger picture ahead.

According to him “All of our good and helpful plans are in the works. More importantly, I know that they will work.

“Sadly, there was an unavoidable lag between subsidy removal and these plans coming fully online.

“However, we are swiftly closing the time gap. I plead with you to please have faith in our ability to deliver and in our concern for your well-being.

“We will get out of this turbulence. And, due to the measures we have taken, Nigeria will be better equipped and able to take advantage of the future that awaits her.”
