In a swift response, President Bola Tinubu has directed a ramped-up search and rescue operation following a helicopter crash near Bonny Finima in the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday.
The helicopter, operated by East Winds Aviation, was on its way to an NNPC Limited facility, carrying contract staff.
President Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, urged military personnel in the region to join the search efforts.
He also called for close cooperation with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and other relevant agencies to support the rescue mission.
Expressing his condolences to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the families of those affected, Tinubu offered prayers for the victims, wishing eternal peace for those who lost their lives and comfort for their grieving families.
