Toba Owojaiye Reporting
The Office of the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has dismissed rumors circulating on social media platforms that the Aso Villa Chapel in Nigeria has been closed. In a statement released today, the office clarified that these reports are false and should be disregarded. The First Lady explained that she did not give any directive to close the chapel or request the keys to be handed over to her.
The statement further mentioned that despite the absence of a chaplain, weekly fellowships, including mid-week fellowships on Tuesdays, are still ongoing at the Aso Villa Chapel. The appointment of a new chaplain is solely the prerogative of the President, and as of now, he has not made that appointment.
A name that has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the position of chaplain is Archbishop Peter Ogunmuyiwa. Archbishop Ogunmuyiwa previously served as the Chaplain of the National Ecumenical Center and is known to have a close relationship with the President.
