President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive steps towards Nigeria’s green future by announcing key appointments during a meeting in Dubai, unveiling plans for a fleet of 100 electric buses.

Mr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and Mr. Dahiru Salisu, Director-General of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), will co-chair the Nigeria Carbon Market Activation Plan.

Truth Live News reports that President Tinubu emphasized that these appointments signify a crucial phase in Nigeria’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and positioning itself as a leader in green manufacturing. The FIRS and NCCC heads will play pivotal roles in driving sustainable policies and frameworks for the carbon market’s growth.

The President’s visionary leadership extends to the establishment of an Inter-governmental Committee on Carbon Markets, led by Adedeji and Salisu. This committee is poised to be a driving force in implementing efficient strategies, ensuring Nigeria’s carbon market initiatives go beyond mere symbolism.

FIRS Chairman Adedeji acknowledged President Tinubu’s guidance, expressing the Committee’s dedication to fostering sustainable carbon market growth. Adedeji highlighted the broader impact of these appointments, indicating that Nigeria is ready to lead global efforts in combating climate change.
