An Indigene of Himike village in Michigan Local Government Area, identified as Elisha Tari, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for murdering two of his children.

Tari, a 25 years old traditional musician, who was arrested last Thursday, August 18, confessed to the crime and gave reasons why he stoned two of his young children, age 3 and 5, to death.

He was paraded on Monday, August 22, before newsmen and while responding to questions, confessed to brutally murdering them, though he was not under the influence of any hard drugs.

“I smoke indian hemp, drink alcohol and inhale snuff. I do not in any way take tramol or any other hard drugs.’’ He said.

In his statement, Tari noted that his wife and the mother of the kids deserted him over two months ago and all efforts to bring her back proved abortive as his in-laws kept deceiving him on the matter.

He recounted that on the fateful day while he was cooking, the deceased children approached him and he asked them “When is your mother returning back home?”

He added that thereafter, he also asked them to say “God” but instead, they said ‘fire and kept saying fire, fire, instead of God.’

“I became irritated and provoked by their action as a result which I picked up stones and hit them on their heads to death” Tari said.

Although he claimed he has a psychological problem and as a result was once tied with chains because of the mental disorder, he has been remanded and will be charged to court.
