A man identified as Mr. Edet Eteng, and his family of six including wife and four children have been reported dead in a fatal motor accident.
The accident which was said to have occurred on Monday involved a truck collided face-to-face with their vehicle leaving two people injured.
According to reports, Mr. Edet Eteng, with his family were returning from Leboku Festival in Yakurr LGA, Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, south south Nigeria, en route Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Truth Live News learned that the victims have been deposited in the Abuochichie Cottage Hospital, Otokpuru axis in Bekwarra Local Government Area, the exact area where the accident occurred.
The Cross River State Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander SC Istifanus Ibrahim, was quoted to have said that via information gathered from security agents and a good Samaritan who were involved in the rescue operation said that the probable cause of the fatal accident was over speeding.
“The accident claimed the life of 6 persons including one adult Male (father) identified as Edet Eteng, one adult female (mother), and four children (three females and one male) – all from one family,” he said.
He said because their post is a bit far from the scene of the accident, Ibrahim, advised drivers to minimize speed during rainy season, saying a lot can happen that may be beyond their control.
