No fewer than eight persons were killed and five others injured after the Zaria central mosque collapsed during Friday prayer yesterday.
Confirming the ugly incident, the Emir of Zazau Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli disclosed that the victims were observing the asr prayers when part of the building suddenly collapsed.
He said, we had earlier observed a crack on the wall of the mosque yesterday and were planning to deploy a team of civil engineers to effect repairs before the ugly incident occurred.
The Emir who sent his condolences to families of the deceased urged the people to temporarily pray outside the mosque until after repairs have been made.
