Joint troops of Operation FANSAN Yanma, spearheaded by the Nigerian Army, have successfully disrupted a series of bandit attacks, reclaimed stolen cattle, and rescued a kidnapped resident in a string of operations across Malumfashi Local Government Area on March 21, 2025.
Intelligence sources reported that the first incident unfolded at 10:30 p.m. when armed bandits stormed Lanbun Kyauta Village in an attempt to rustle cattle. “Upon receiving the distress call, the troops swiftly mobilized a response team, comprising the Nigerian Army, Police, Vigilantes, and Civilian Watch, to intercept the criminals,” sources told Zagazola Makama. A fierce firefight broke out, compelling the bandits to abandon their loot and flee, leaving the cattle to be recovered by the security forces.
Just half an hour later, at 11:00 p.m., troops received another urgent alert from Tashan Fulani Village, where bandits were spotted crossing the Federal Highway. The rapid-response team engaged the assailants in a gun duel, overpowering them and forcing a retreat into the bush, with some reportedly sustaining bullet wounds.
The night’s challenges continued when a report surfaced of bandits abducting Alhaji Sani in Malumfashi Town. “Joint troops rushed to the scene, engaged the abductors in a gunfight at Malumfashi Bypass, and successfully rescued the victim unhurt,” the sources confirmed. The operation marked a significant victory in the fight against kidnapping in the region.
Finally, at midnight, troops responded to yet another distress call behind Malumfashi General Hospital, where bandits had attacked a residence. Although the criminals fled before the security forces arrived, no casualties or abductions were reported in the incident.
The coordinated efforts of Operation FANSAN Yanma underscore a robust clampdown on banditry, delivering a strong message to criminal elements in Katsina State.
