Donald Trump congratulated Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine on their wins in Florida’s special elections for congressional districts 1 and 6, respectively.
Patronis defeated Democrat Gay Valimont in northwest Florida’s 1st District, despite being outraised and outspent.
Fine won against Democratic challenger Josh Weil in north Florida’s 6th District.
These victories bolster the Republicans’ margin in the House of Representatives to 220-213.
Trump boasted that his endorsement contributed to their success, writing on his Truth Social media account, “Both Florida House Seats have been won, big by the Republican candidate.”
He also congratulated Patronis and Fine individually, saying, “Jimmy Patronis wins big! Congratulations Jimmy” and “Congratulations Randy, a great win against a massive cash avalanche.”
Patronis will fill the seat vacated by former Rep. Matt Gaetz, while Fine will take over the seat left by Mike Waltz, now Trump’s national security adviser.
