The former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has launched an alternative micro-blogging site named “Bluesky” available only on Android devices.

The app promises to be a future-thinking “social internet” that allows users more choices and frees people from platforms.

However, access to the app requires entering an invitation code after sending an email because it is still in development.

According to New York Post, Dorsey began working on Bluesky as a side project in 2019 with the funding from Twitter and the platform is said to now have 20,000 users, but demand for the premium app has apparently been increasing.

Many Bluesky users said that the app’s current beta version is like a scaled-down version of Twitter, said Tech Crunch.

In the future, the app developers wish to provide users with “algorithmic choice,” which would let them select the method by which content is shown on their screen as opposed to a predetermined algorithm managed by the app developers.
