There is a great tension among residents of Kubwa, in Abuja after a two-storey building under construction reportedly collapsed, leaving workers trapped, with two people feared dead and scores of workers injured.
As at when Truthlive.net correspondent arrived the scene for live coverage, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) were carrying out rescue operation, with Caterpillars on site excavating the rubbles. Members of NSCDC, FCTA Firemen are controlling the excavation.
An eyewitness residing in the area told Truthlive.net that “the incident occurred around 11pm yesterday and rescue teams have arrived the site Friday morning, with six bodies already dogged out”.
Anna, another eyewitness who own a store opposite the collapsed building, told truthlive.net that “when they were constructing the story building, I notice building materials were of poor qualities and inadequate. Labourers most time do invite me to come and see the progress of the work but I refuse to go. Only for this thing to happen last night”.
Truthlive.net confimed that another victim, Emma jumped down from the last floor at the moment and he broke his leg.
The collapse started from foundation, baba was the security guarding the place, one of his children was rescued, 2 died
Rescue still ongoing as another lady said there are about 8persons still trapped in the building.
