UNIBEN VC disclaims fake social media accounts

The Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, has disclaimed fake social media accounts opened in his name and with his photographs.

In a statement by the University’s Deputy Registrar/PRO, Benedicta Ehanire, Prof Omoregie urged members of the public to ignore request of friendships from the fake accounts.

He noted, “It has come to the notice of the Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, that fake Facebook pages are being opened in his name and with his photographs.”

“This is to disclaim them and urge the public to ignore any request for friendship, money or scam on contract awards on any social media platform in the name of Edoba B. Omoregie or in whatever form the scammers choose to write the Vice Chancellor’s name.”

The statement added, “The Uniben Vice Chancellor, as a public office holder and top lawyer of the rank of Senior Advocate, understands and adheres strictly to the right procedures for transacting official business and will not do so on social media or any unofficial platform. Please be guided.”
