The US Army reservist accused of carrying out the deadliest mass shooting in the United States with 18 people dead and 13 others injured has been found dead, the US Police said.
Corpse of the 40-year-old suspect identified as Robert Card, was discovered on Friday evening with a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a recycling facility box trailer about 10 miles from Lewiston, where the victims were killed and injured in shootings at a bowling alley and a restaurant on Wednesday.
With an extensive 48-hour manhunt now over, Lewiston is finally able to mourn after the shootings that injected fear into the city and surrounding communities, closing down schools and keeping residents behind locked doors for two days as police searched for the gunman.
Truth Live News gathered that no fewer than 18 people were killed while 13 others were injured after a gunman went on a shooting spree in the northeastern state of Maine in the United States.
The carnage in Lewiston, a city of about 39,000 people, began at about 7 pm on Wednesday when police received calls about a gunman at a bowling alley, where a children’s event was taking place.
Following the shootings, the Maine police searched for the US Army reservist wanted for the suspect in the incident.
A manhunt was launched with police fanning out across southern Maine on Thursday while public school districts in the area canceled classes and police urged residents to stay indoors.
However, the suspect was found dead from self inflinched gun wound on Friday.
