Ukrainian officials announced on Friday that the terms of a mineral deal between Ukraine and the US have not yet been finalized.

The latest US proposal would require Kyiv to send all profits from a fund controlling Ukrainian resources to Washington until Ukraine repays American wartime aid, plus interest.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that Kyiv will only issue its position on the new draft once consensus is reached, emphasizing that public discussion would be harmful until then.

Mykhailo Podolyak, a senior official in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office, noted that there is no finalized draft yet, as consultations are ongoing at the ministry level.

The Trump administration has been pressing Kyiv for weeks to sign a deal giving Washington a stake in Ukraine’s resources, as part of its reoriented policy endorsing Russia’s narrative on the Ukraine war.

President Zelenskyy has expressed acceptance of the idea, but refuses to sign an agreement that would impoverish his country.

On Thursday, Zelenskyy stated that Washington has been constantly changing the terms, but he doesn’t want the US to think he’s opposed in principle.
