Ukraine and the United States have finalized a highly anticipated minerals deal that marks a significant milestone in their economic cooperation.

Truth Live News reports that Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister, Olha Stefanishyna, confirmed the agreement to the Financial Times on Tuesday, noting that Ukraine had secured more favorable terms during negotiations.

The deal, reportedly worth billions of dollars, is expected to be signed soon, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy traveling to Washington for a signing ceremony in the coming days.

US President Donald Trump announced the impending deal on Monday, following a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

While the agreement is seen as a major breakthrough, it’s worth noting that it doesn’t provide security guarantees from the US for Ukraine.

However, Ukraine will transfer 50% of the income from monetizing state-owned minerals, including oil and gas, to a commercial fund.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is set to recommend signing the agreement today, February 26, with details expected to be finalized later.
