The Nigerian Police Force has condemned a viral video in which seven policemen were seen escorting a yet-to-be-identified man walking with a cow.
Several reactions had trailed the video shared by a Twitter user, Yemie Fash, who tagged the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi asking why the man had so many policemen escorting him.
He wrote, “Hello, #Princemoye1 Who is this man, why does he have so many #PoliceNG men following him?”
Truth Live News recalls that the acting Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, had vowed to effect the withdrawal of Police Mobile Force personnel from VIP escort/guard duties on Monday, June 26.
Retweeting the video in the early hours of Thursday, Adejobi described it as ‘disgusting’ and vowed to fish out the police officers.
,Adejobi wrote: “This is condemned. We will fish out these men. It’s even disgusting. We have set up a committee to look into the process of withdrawing our PMF/tactical men from such services and use them for the announced Quick Intervention Squad.
According to him, “deployment of policemen to individuals will surely be reviewed and regularised. When the committee submits its report, the Ag. IGP will act as fast as possible to implement the policy.
He insisted that more men are needed to police than guard individual Nigerians.
The force PRO also assured Nigerians of a better policing system in no distant time.”
