The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Ondo State, Dr. Olubunmi Osadahun, was at the weekend, attacked in Arigidi Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area during the distribution of foodstuffs as palliatives aimed at supporting the vulnerable due to inflation caused by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

A video circulating on social media and seen by Truthlive news, shows Osadahun been struck on the head with a chair by a man

According to report, Truthlive news learnt that the Commissioner attack was instigated by some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government whose opposition stemmed from allegations of secrecy surrounding the government’s handling of the food distribution exercise.

While the police have not yet identified the culprits behind the attack, there are claims that Olumide Awolumate, also known as “Cuba” and the APC chairman in Akoko North West Ward 1, may be involved.

Due to injuries sustained during the attack, the Commissioner was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Some young men identified as loyalists of the Commissioner were said to have retaliated by beating Awolumate.
