Vice President Kashim Shettima announced that President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the construction of 1,000 houses across seven states: Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, and Benue. These housing projects will include essential amenities like schools, clinics, veterinary clinics, and ranches, particularly benefiting the Fulani community in Kaduna and Benue.

Shettima made this revelation during the inauguration of various projects completed by the Borno State Government within the last 100 days. He emphasized that these housing initiatives are part of a broader Federal Government strategy to address conflicts in the northern regions of Nigeria.

Furthermore, Vice President Shettima disclosed that President Tinubu has allocated N50 billion to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to initiate the Pulaku initiative. This initiative seeks to provide a non-kinetic solution to the ongoing crisis in the northwest region.

President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusivity is evident, as Shettima emphasized that all victims of the conflicts must be included in the relief efforts.

Shettima also assured Nigerians that the development agenda under President Tinubu’s leadership would extend to all corners of the nation. He highlighted President Tinubu’s empathy for the less privileged and his determination to improve the country’s fortunes.

Shettima acknowledged the challenges facing the country and assured citizens that the government would take measures to address them. He promised a wave of projects and programs in the coming weeks and months that would positively impact the lives of many.

The Vice President commended the leadership of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, particularly his commitment to the welfare of the people. He noted their strong working relationship and referred to them as a model for successor-predecessor relationships in contemporary Nigeria.

During his visit to Maiduguri, Shettima commissioned several projects, including the Shuwari II Community School and Healthcare Centre, the Alikaramti Community School, and the Gamboru Liberty Day Secondary School. He received an enthusiastic reception, especially from school children.

Before the project inaugurations, Shettima paid homage to the Shehu of Borno at his palace. He was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, and legislators from both the National and State Assemblies. The Deputy Governors of Borno, Gombe, and Taraba States were also part of the Vice President’s entourage during this visit.
