A lot of traders in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State have continued to decry the unavailability of the new naira notes in the town, which they say is affecting their sales due to the fact that if they reject the old naira note, patronage will fall.  According to our correspondent, who spoke to some of the traders at Igbudu Market, Warri said that most of the traders complained that customers were still bringing the old naira notes to purchase goods from them.

The traders said that due to the fact that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) January 31, 2023 deadline was just few days away, it was making it difficult to collect the old naira notes from them.

Mrs Rose Okoro, one of the traders said that some of them were still collecting the old naira notes, saying that they could still deposit them in the bank inside the market.

Majority of the buyers complained that the reason they were still having the old notes was because the banks were still giving out old ones inside while their ATMs did not have money and that there were long queues at the few banks that had.

When some of the buyers were asked while they were not doing the online transaction or transfer, some said they had never done transfer to petty traders, while others claimed ignorance of the cashless policy of doing business through transfer.
