We are blessed with an abundance of talent, says the Nigerian Minister of Sports, Sen John Owan-Enoh.
The minister of sports took to his official Facebook page to describe how he felt about the Women’s Basketball League, organized by the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF), on Thursday in Lagos State.
Witnessing the thrilling match between MFM Basketball team, and the Nigerian Customs Basketball team at the National Stadium, Surulere, Enoh said, “the depth of talent we have is extraordinary, providing a strong pool for national team selections.”
It was in the League’s Finale Four, that the MFM Basketball clinched the victory with a 64-60 score, to claim the league title.
Expressing his feeling, Minister Enoh said, he was “confident that scouts and coaches have been closely monitoring these proceedings.”
He encouraged other teams that took part in the League to hold their head high and come back even stronger next season.
As he paid tribute to the recent dominance of D’Tigress in Africa, he said their feat “doesn’t come as a surprise; it’s a testament to our wealth of talent.”
“It’s also heartening to see privately-owned clubs excelling in our sports,” he added.” Their determination and hard work shows.”
“I applaud Zenith Bank for their unwavering commitment to the development of basketball in our nation.”
He said he had a fantastic time at the finale of the Zenith bank Women’s Basketball League.
After the chance of watching the Women’s Basketball League, he pledged the Ministry’s commitment to remain resolute in its effort to foster a conducive environment for sports ,so it flourishes.
“Congratulations to all the women in Nigerian Basketball. Indeed you are all champions,” he said. “The level of competition we’ve seen unequivocally demonstrates the significant progress women’s basketball has made.”
“We will work hand in hand with private investments to develop sports,” he concluded.
