Onyinyechukwu Ede Reporting
As he talks up about his first worldwide deal with Sony, popular musician Davido realizes that the recognition that Nigerian artists are enjoying presently are as a rest of sacrifices being made by their predecessors.
The “Stand Strong” singer discussed this in a recent interview, where he mentioned how Sony Music signed him in 2016, marking his first worldwide deal.
He admitted that at the time, he had to reintroduce himself to the management.
The singer stated that he had to record an album with the Sony group, and because they were the ones who signed him, they selected the producers and other members of the music team for his production.
He said that the record was a failure in his opinion in comparison with his standard or taste in music. After that he had to return to Nigeria to use his producers because the other ones couldn’t understand the African style of music.
Davido stated that the current significance of Nigerian musicians is due to the hard work of past generations of artists such as P-Square, 2Face, and Dbanj, and that the current generation’s work would benefit the next generation.
