EDO STATE: As political activities hightens ahead of the Edo State September 21st governorship election, political merchants in the Edo PDP have continued to up their ante in the game of treachery.
Piqued by bitterness and a rash sense of entitlement, these bunch of resentful PDP members, all of whom had previously benefitted immensely from the party, are today ganging up to rock the boat of the party in a futile gale of defection to the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC .
From Edo North to South and Central, the list of these ” food is ready ” politicians is replete with names of persons whose political life suffered still-birth until PDP tickets brought them to political reckoning.
Some, at one point or the other, had enjoyed PDP tickets for elective positions into the National Assembly while others gained via appointments.
For the records, some of these PDP dissidents have been two – term senators under the banner of the PDP, some House of Representatives members , two have been Speakers of the Edo State House of Assembly and many others enjoyed patronage as State or federal appointees under the PDP.
Most of these implacable rebels would have been consigned to political limbo if not for the PDP.
For this set of politicians, it is either them or nothing.
All is well as long as other party members work and toil for them to reap.
They enjoy others’ support but forbid supporting others to climb.
Like rolling stones that gather no moss, they oscillate from one political party to another in desperate search of personal aggrandizement without qualms about the welfare of the people and survival of the party.
Their grouse with the party is not people centered but stomach modulated.
A clinical look at the current switch of parties by this class of politicians shows an orchestrated machinations to annihilate the PDP in order to be relevant in the APC so as to be found worth to clinch the APC tickets in subsequent elections.
Should their plan fail to materialize, as it is bound to, one will not be surprised to see them return in droves back to the PDP.
Nothing blurs a man’s sense of reasoning as vaulting ambition.
With the Edo electorate queueing solidarity behind the PDP and its superb candidates, Dr.Asue Ighodalo and Barr. Osarodion Ogie, victory is assured with or without the inconsequential fair weather members who are no longer comfortable with the party simply because they feel they have nothing more left to benefit.
