In a significant move aimed at bolstering the efforts to address environmental concerns and waste management issues within the Federal Capital Territory, the Honorable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has appointed Dr. Barivure Fred Kpakol as the Senior Special Assistant on Environment and Waste Management.

Dr. Kpakol’s distinguished qualifications and extensive experience mark him as a valuable addition to the dedicated team of the FCT Administration.

Dr. Kpakol, born on May 26, 1961, in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, boasts an impressive academic background. He holds a doctorate degree in Banking and Finance from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.

His illustrious career showcases his commitment to public service. Notable roles held by Dr. Kpakol include serving as the Rivers State Commissioner for Agriculture from 2019 to 2023, where he made significant contributions to the state’s agricultural development. He also excelled as the Rivers State Commissioner for Finance from 2015 to 2019, overseeing the state’s financial affairs with distinction.

His involvement in the political process is evident through his tenure as the Vice Chairman of the PDP in Rivers South East Senatorial Zone from 2013 to 2015. Additionally, he offered his leadership and governance skills as the Executive Chairman of Gokana Local Government, and his proficiency in local government administration was exemplified during his role as the State Secretary of Rivers State Chapter of ALGON from 1999 to 2002.
