Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu as well as former Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Ntufam Hilliard Eta have been named as guests to feature at a palliatives summit in Abuja.
Organizers of the summit known as the Nigerian Citizens Welfare Project (NCWP) made this known in a statement made available to Truth Live News on Sunday.
According to the statement, the event scheduled for November 1, 2023 will be be held at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
Wike is expected to be Special Guest of Honour at the event which is to be chaired by APC’s Ntufam Hilliard Eta.
Dr. Betta Edu would deliver the Key Note address at the Summit while a top Medical Practitioner in Canada, Dr. Dumebi Okafor will give the Diaspora Perspective towards achieving a better Social Security system for Nigerians.
The statement added that, Julius Eto, Chairman of Journalists Forum will handle the Media Perspective.
According to the Director General of organisers of the event, Esanerovo Agbodo, “the Summit is meant to bring Nigeria eggheads together from the government,the private sector and Nigerians in the Diaspora to fashion out a workable private sector/ non governmental driven initiative to complement government efforts towards poverty alleviation and effective Social Security, especially considering the economic effects on transportation and prices of foodstuffs due the petrol subsidy removal on the citizens.”
“Government cannot bear the burden alone hence there is the need to bring innovations to the table to support government efforts. We really need to act fast to support citizens and combat hopelessness and crime in the society because a hungry man is an angry man and also the devil’s workshop,” he added.
“Government representatives,the Nigeria Labour Congress,Media, Non State Actors, Religious bodies, Youths, Students and other top Nigerians are expected to attend the Summit.
“A brief training will also be held for participants to help them better understand social security issues at stake and how to influence their various organizations/ institutions to complement government’s efforts.”
