The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed that all his actions as a minister are driven by national interest.

He made this disclosure in a statement signed by his Director of Press, Anthony Ogunleye, which was made available to Truth Live News on Wednesday evening.

The FCT Minister’s remarks come in response to recent false information circulating on social media concerning the National Mosque. He urged the public to verify information and seek clarification from the FCT Administration regarding government policies and actions.

Barr. Wike stressed the importance of countering misinformation to maintain transparency and public trust.

He stated, “I’m seated here as the Minister of FCT. If there is anything you hear that the FCT is trying to do, do not hesitate to also ask if it is correct, so that we will be able to defend the government and defend ourselves.”

During the interactions, Barr. Wike furthered to caution religious leaders about divisive tactics employed by some politicians who aim to exploit religion to create discord in the nation for their political gains.

He urged religious leaders to be discerning regarding the messages they convey to their congregations and to avoid spreading hate or mistrust. The Minister emphasized the need to pray for the success of the government in power, as the country’s prosperity depends on the leader’s success.

“Let me advise all of us to be careful about politicians who are so desperate to get power. Be careful of politicians who can do anything just because of power. It’s not everything you read on social media that is correct. Try and ask questions,” he added.

The FCT Minister also assured that the FCT Administration remains committed to the continuous maintenance of the National Christian Center and Abuja National Mosque, both of which have been declared national monuments.

Addressing the current economic challenges in the country, he stressed that difficult decisions had to be made to correct past mistakes and called for patience and understanding from the public.

The President of CAN, His Eminence, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, congratulated the FCT Minister on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to bring positive transformations. He pledged the association’s support for the success of the Wike-led FCT Administration.

Imam Tajudeen Adigun, Chairman of the Committee, League of Imams Initiative, explained that the organization was established to foster unity among the Muslim community and peaceful coexistence with members of other faiths nationwide.

He commended Barrister Wike’s dedication and expressed the League of Imams’ readiness to collaborate with him in promoting harmony in society while disregarding disinformation.
