In a statement made available to Truth Live News, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, conducted a thorough inspection of key road projects on November 22, 2023, emphasizing their anticipated completion by May 2024.
Among the pivotal projects scrutinized was the Southern Expressway expansion, spanning from Villa Roundabout to OSEX/Ring Road I (RRI) Junction, inclusive of four interchanges, managed by C.G.C Nig. Ltd.
Another project in focus is the comprehensive development of Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) with spurs, undertaken by Gilmore, and the Access Road to Body of Benchers in the Institution and Research District, handled by H&R Construction Ltd.
Expressing satisfaction with the ongoing work, Minister Wike assured that funding arrangements are in place to meet the scheduled completion. He highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to ensure proper funding, drawing from the FCT’s 2023 supplementary budget.
He said , “The contractors have assured us that these roads will be completed on time, and we believe, by the special grace of God, they are part of those projects earmarked for the celebration of one year in office of Mr. President,” Minister Wike affirmed.
Acknowledging the economic impact, he noted that these projects would enhance FCT’s economic activities, renew hope among the people, and boost confidence in the government.
“We have made arrangements for funding. Mr. President has said severally that he does not want excuses,” Minister Wike emphasized, reassuring that the quality of the projects remains high.
While addressing residents, Wike highlighted President Tinubu’s determination to restore hope in the FCT through project completion by May 2024.
The Executive Secretary FCDA, Engr. Shehu Ahmad Hadi, provided technical insights during the inspection, emphasizing the distinctive features of the projects.
Contractors expressed gratitude for the support received and confirmed their commitment to completing the projects on schedule.
