Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has opened up on the reason why it is pertinent he reacts to the allegations and attacks by the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential flagbearer Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, stating that the latter has been lying to Nigerians about what transpired between them.
In a statement to journalists on Friday at the Port Harcourt International airport in Rivers state, Wike downplayed the possibility of leaving the party because of the crisis. He vowed to remain in the PDP but noted he will speak against the lies told on him.
‘till date, so may lies were told, then they say I should not talk so I don’t add to the issues.
‘assuming today, I am not alive, these lies will be accepted as the truth’.
Wike noted that he has been insulted and lied on, so it is important that he speaks because it is unfair for him to be lied on ‘by Atiku Abubakar himself and his attack dogs’.
He noted that after he fiercely contested and was not given the ticket, he went about his business of finding ways to improve his state but sadly he kept getting attacks here and there from Atiku’s loyalists.
“I have moved on to conclude my social contract with the people of Rivers. However, it is time to let Nigerians know the truth.”
