The Cross River State Governmment says it is on the right track to actualizing desired development to meet global standards and promote equitable healthcare for all.
The State Commissioner for Health Dr. Janet Ekpenyong disclosed this during 2023 World Health Day celebration in Calabar, South south region of Nigeria.
She said the health day with the theme, “Health for All” was imperative for the state governments, organizations, and individuals to massively promote quality healthcare delivery.
Dr. Ekpenyong, who called on other states to emulate Cross River’s template of investing in the health sector said that the state presses closer to actualizing Universal Health Coverage.
She went further to say that the World Health Day is to remind us of the need to unite and make progressive moves towards total eradication of common diseases and illnesses.
The former DG Primary Healthcare Development Agency said that currently the state is investing in facility remodeling, building, renovation, and drug stocking.
While advocating inclusiveness in facility patronage, and on-the-go professional services as well as the recruitment of health personnel at all cadres. She said “Occasions like this create pathways for nations to achieve healthcare for all by employing all means to get stakeholders to invest in the health sector.
“Just like the gains we have recorded in Cross River State where today our people enjoy one of the best health services in our ultra-modern health facilities equipped with state of the art machines.”
According to her, “Like what we have in Obudu LGA and the other two Senatorial Districts.”
